| JOB SUMMARY: The DAOM Program Director provides academic and strategic leadership for AOMA’s Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) Program(s) and for the Doctoral and Master programs clinical education. The DAOM Program Director articulates the vision and purpose of the DAOM, ensuring alignment with AOMA’s mission and vision. The DAOM Program Director serves on the Academic Council and chairs the DAOM Committee. This person works closely with AOMA leadership, staff, faculty and learners to provide innovative and transformative learning experience that educates leaders, teachers, researchers and high level practitioners in AOM. The DAOM Program Director is responsible for curricular approval, implementation, accreditation and modification through established institutional processes. DUTIES: Reporting to the CEO, the DAOM Program Director shall: • Articulate the vision and purpose of the DAOM program, ensuring alignment with AOMA’s mission and vision • Provide leadership for the DAOM program in participation and co-operation with AOMA administrative and faculty governance structures • Oversee new DAOM faculty and student orientations. • Participate in admissions events and processes for the DAOM • Participate in relevant accreditation processes, including narratives and processes pertinent to DAOM accreditation. Works closely with the accreditation liaisons to compile substantive change, self-studies, annual reports, and other requirements for programmatic and regional accreditors • Chair DAOM Committee meetings • Attend and participate in committees such as: Academic Council, Clinical Oversight Committee, and Faculty Senate, and President’s cabinet • Work with the Vice-president for operations and student services, oversee and manage the DAOM budget, personnel, and facility needs • Work closely with the MAcOM Director regarding academic planning, policy, and operations (including course scheduling, etc.) • Ensure the achievement of DAOM student learning outcomes • Work closely with MAcOM program director, clinic business director, and registrar regarding clinic rotations and supervisor staffing • Coordinate intern meetings and trainings with MAcOM director • Incorporate DAOM learners in MAcOM clinical activities, including learning to supervise, assisting in the practical exams, and conducting chart audits • Work closely with the president (and MAcOM program director?) to develop community clinic relationships and DAOM internship rotations • Manage issues, concerns, and incidents as they arise in the clinics • Coordinate DAOM research activities with the Research Director • Oversee DAOM curriculum revision and modification, program review, and coordinate the results of revision with the appropriate campus constituencies • Ensure that the DAOM Program(s) remains focused on educational innovation, excellence and transformative student learning • Work closely with admissions and student services to ensure enrollment and retention goals are achieved. • Review and edit catalogs, website, advertisements, and other marketing/promotional materials for DAOM Program(s) • Foster integration and transformation throughout the program and its related constituencies • Recruit and make final recommendations to the Academic Council and Cabinet on DAOM faculty QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: appropriate doctoral level preparation, educated in TCM or 5 years experience in TCM program leadership. EXPERIENCE: • 5yr Administrative experience in academic medicine at the Director or Dean level. • Preferred: • Experience in DAOM Program Curriculum • Five years successful teaching experience in accredited institutions of higher education • Texas acupuncture license or ability to gain it • Minimum of ten (10) years of AOM clinical experience • Participation in accreditation and evaluation processes TECHNICAL Computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; demonstrated ability to interpret and critically reflect upon academic program performance datasets.
