Location: Portland, Oregon

Date Posted: 06/27/2014

We are Asula Wellness Center (www.asula.com) a team of wellness practitioners including chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and rehab instructors. We work together as a team to help our patients reach all their wellness goals! We are excited to add a naturopath to our team.
Our space is in a great location in the Pearl. We have a talented and dynamic group of practitioners, we work hard but we also have a lot of fun!

Our perfect candidate would be experienced and interested in the following areas: (We are happy to help train you if you have the interest but are lacking some experience in a few of these areas, but more experience is definitely a plus)
Nutritional counseling
This one is complicated. This is a wide area. I think a good understanding of most “fad diets” or ways of eating that patient’s encounter is important. (Ex: South Beach diet, Paleo, Raw Foods, Weight Watchers, Vegan diets, Gap diet ) Also putting together the BASICS for people. It can get really confusing with all the information out there that even patients trying to make a good effort to eat well get confused. Helping people figure out a basic formula for eating right. Including meal planning, helping patients with food allergies learn how to enjoy eating within their dietary restrictions, eating in a way that balances their blood sugar, food elimination diets, finding healthy snacks, preparing shipping lists, recipe ideas, and all the other things that accompany this area.
Lab test Interpretation and Counseling
Knowledge and counseling for high cholesterol, hypoglycemia, thyroid issues, vit D deficiencies, anemia etc.
Working knowledge about testing options for adrenal hormones and how to interpret results. Understanding of options for treatment of adrenal fatigue ( diet and lifestyle changes, supplements, herbs, hormones) and how to counsel patient on reaching appropriate solution for reversing adrenal fatigue within the context of their lives.
Understanding of Ova/Parasite/Bacterial testing with stool cultures. Working knowledge of how to treat with herbs or antibiotics and re-inocuolate with good bacteria.
Understanding of options for identifying food allergies ( lab tests or food elimination diets) and how to counsel patients in successfully implementing diet changes long term.
Knowing when digestive enzymes and anti inflammatory herb protocols could be helpful to healing leaky gut/digestive distress.
Understanding of how digestive disorders tie into almost every other body system and disease. Especially auto-immune and how to counsel patients with these disorders into remission or at least a controlled state.
Female Hormone Balance
Understanding of lab testing ( both saliva and blood) for identifying female hormone imbalance. Working knowledge of protocols for rebalancing the hormones, both herbal and using bio-identical hormones. Diet and lifestyle changes that further support this process. This area will encompass fertility issues, PMS, Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Disease, Menopause and Pre-Menopause.
Knowledge of different types of sleep disturbances and ways to treat, including neurotransmitter support, adrenal gland support, glycemic control, and herbal remedies. Also a working knowledge of sleep hygiene and sleep architecture for attaining optimal rest from sleep.
Knowledge of detoxification pathways and how to support those processes. Ways to daily detox through healthy lifestyle, herbs and supplements, and avoiding exposure. Cleanses for more intense detoxification. A working knowledge of the different cleansing options including, Juice cleanses, supplement supported cleanses ( ex: metagenics or standard process), food based cleanses ( Ex: Ayurvedic kitchari cleanse) and how to match the proper one to patient based on their goals and lifestyle.
