Cassandra’s lifelong interest in health has led her through various positions during her medical career. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Business, she began working at one of the top health insurance companies in the US. Realizing her interest in medicine and desiring further education, Cassandra returned to school and became a licensed nurse. Through nursing, she has experienced first-hand the health-delivery systems of hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, and long-term care facilities. Among the patients for whom she advocated, she observed the benefits of and demands for natural medicine modalities. These experiences led her to the National College of Natural Medicine.

While attending NCNM, Cassandra completed coursework in naturopathy, Chinese medicine, and research. Within research she found a way to combine her passions for knowledge, health, medicine, education, and social change. In 2013 she received her Master of Science degree in Integrative Medicine Research from NCNM and is currently an Adjunct Faculty at Helfgott Research Institute.

Cassandra presented a research poster at the Symposium for Portland Area Research on Complementary & Alternative Medicine (SPARC 2013) student research pre-conference where she received an award for best poster presentation for her thesis work entitled "Results of Naturopathic Intervention for the Treatment of Hypertension: A Case Series."

Cassandra sees research as an instrument of discovery and advancement for health and medicine. She plans to pursue a PhD in public health policy research.
