Full-text Options
Are you looking for journal articles? Here is a search strategy that we recommend:
1. Start by searching PubMed using the customized link that is available on the NCNM library website, or you can bookmark this URL: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?myncbishare=ncnm&holding=ncnmlib_fft_ndi.
2. You want to start with PubMed because the library has linked almost 2,000 of its full-text journals to the PubMed system. That means you will be able to click on the NCNM holding icon to retrieve full-text articles (when available) from within PubMed. The display option must be set to citation or abstract in order for the NCNM holding icon to appear however.

3. You can also search any of our separate full-text databases which are listed below. A number of the databases are available from the same provider (EbscoHost), which means that you can search them all at the same time.

Remember that if you find an article citation for which there is no electronic full-text option, you will need to go through these additional steps to retrieve the article: (1) see if we own the journal in paper format, find it on the shelf, and read or photocopy the article; (2) go to OHSU and locate the journal on their shelves; or (3) fill out an interlibrary loan request (click here for the online request form).
