Probiotics and Cholesterol Levels

Concerned about your cholesterol?

A new research study is looking at the effects of a probiotic supplement on cholesterol levels.

Participants in the study will be asked to take a probiotic supplement for 8 weeks, attend four study visits, and have four fasting blood draws. Participants will receive test results upon completion of the study.

 To join the study you must:

  • Have a total cholesterol level of 200-275 mg/dL (confirmed upon screening)
  • Be between 21-69 years old

 You will not be eligible for the study if you:

  • Are already taking probiotics
  • Are already taking medications to lower cholesterol
  • Have heart disease, such as having a past heart attack, stroke or heart surgery
  • Have an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia) or a pacemaker
  • Have diabetes
