Summary of Current Scientific Literature on Tart Cherries

Cherries are rich in numerous compounds with promising health benefits. In vitro studies have demonstrated that cherries have antioxidant activity, inhibit enzymes involved in pain pathways and may also have anti-carcinogenic effects. Animal or clinical studies have demonstrated beneficial metabolic effects such as reductions in blood sugar, lipid and insulin levels and improved sleep.
