Dietary Supplements and Estrogen Metabolism in Healthy Premenopausal Women

Fresh cruciferous vegetables, such as Brussels sprouts and kale, change how our bodies break down estrogen. This study tests the effects of capsules containing dried Brussels sprouts and kale on estrogen breakdown in generally healthy menstruating women compared to a similar group of women taking placebo capsules. We also plan to monitor thyroid related hormones to evaluate whether the capsules alter thyroid gland hormone production.
