**Review and Update of Medications for Hypertension** &
**Review and Update of Medications for Diabetes Mellitus**

Marcus Miller MD, ND
Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. — noon
NCNM, Room 322

NCNM is pleased to announce the start of an ongoing lecture group, Pharmacology in Primary Care. The first two lectures in this package will be presented by Dr. Marcus Miller, a faculty member of NCNM. Marcus is a dual degreed physician, having earned his M.D. at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1982. Thereafter, Marcus completed an internship in Family Practice Medicine and a three year residency in Internal Medicine. Following 13 years of practice, Marcus returned to school and in 2001 he graduated from NCNM with both academic honors and honors in research and was the recipient of that year’s NCNM Tender Heart Award. In 2004, Marcus revamped NCNM’s two pharmacology classes and he continues today as the instructor of these classes. Dr. Miller’s pharmacology lectures are notable for the clinical pearls that he shares and for his review of anatomy and physiology to better understand both the desired effects and the potential side effects of the drugs being discussed.

The NCNM pharmacology series is designed to be both a review and an update of drugs that are used in a primary care setting. These lectures are directed toward physicians, physician assistants, nurses and medical assistants. Special attention will be given to best practice standards as well as to notable potential adverse effects of the drugs to be discussed. Continuing Education hours are available for all of the lectures in this series. The first two lectures of the series are A Review and Update of Medications for Hypertension followed by A Review and Update of Medications for Diabetes Mellitus.
