Menopause is defined as the permanent end of menstruation and fertility, 12 months after the last menstrual period. Menopause is a natural, biological process yet it is still often treated as a medical condition with the emphasis on symptom management. This talk focuses on prevention as well as treatment, based on Chinese medical theory by addressing the underlying causes of symptoms. We look at three differentiated patterns associated with this life transition: fatigue (kidney /adrenal deficiency) insomnia (blood deficiency/anemia) and hot flashes (yin deficiency.) with associated clinical cases for each pattern.
